Local Color

Just thought I would post a bit of eye candy from our trip to the farmer's market this morning.

We came home with a bag full of locally produced cheese, heirloom tomatoes, lemon cucumbers, sweet bell peppers and a gigantic vidalia onion. Good eats!

I've only been to 1 Farmer's Market and it looked nothing like this. What's the deal with Rockford area farmers? There should be a news letter to inform them of what is expected and set a new standard.

Michelle... I would gladly type up that newsletter to the farmers of Northern Illinois trying to get them motivated to go to market. They are missing the boat man.

The problem (or difference) is that in Vermont the farmers seem to be a lot of barefoot hippies with dreadlocks and a solid passion for all things earthy and beautiful. In Illinois? Yeah...not so much so. It's more of a passion for pesticides and a paycheck there I think. Too bad. These hippies need to take their show on the road and try to influence the masses with their ginormous fennel bulbs and organic canned peaches.

These people up here can even make vegan cookies that will knock your socks off. And that really is sayin' somethin'.
